Porchlight Sleep Out – October 2018
On October 12th our Scouts joined forces to tackle homelessness in Kent. We held a sponsored sleep out, possibly the biggest one the county has ever seen, to raise money for the charity Porchlight.
It was both fun and cold and it provided an eye-opening experience about what people who live and sleep on the streets have to go through every day. The Scouts had to make own cardboard shelter to sleep out in, with a variety of different designs being built. Some were more sturdy than others, but everyone involved made a great effort. We raised around £1000 for the charity Porchlight, which is a brilliant result that everyone should be proud of. The Scouts were treated to a full English breakfast the following morning as a reward for their efforts. Well done to everyone who slept out!
Below are some pictures of the amazing shelters that our Scouts built.
