Cub Spy Camp Downe 2017
Posted on 19 June 2017
For this year’s camp, the Cub pack retuned to Downe in Biggin Hill for a spy themed, action packed weekend. The camp was filled with secrets and surprises for the Cubs from the moment they walked through the camp entrance to ‘flag down’ at the end of camp. Thanks to our large group of leaders and helpers, the camp ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all the Cubs, both old and new. With a fresh theme came many new challenges and activities, with the Laser Quest Dome proving to be a particular favourite, that was used constantly all weekend. The Cubs also took part in a spy themed obstacle course and hike in order to complete their Physical Challenge, while they cracked codes in order to access information. On Saturday evening the Cubs even had a visit a real police detective with his own undercover vehicle! In addition, the cubs tried their hand at tunnelling and flying sky high on the exhilarating zip wire. Even Akela gave it go!
The cubs also enjoyed being independent and got stuck in with camp tasks. They learnt how to cook breakfast and most importantly managed to wash up without too much moaning!! The cubs also helped the leaders with filling up water barrels and collecting firewood for the evening camp fire.
Overall, a great time was had by all and each of the spy tents worked really hard across the whole camp. A massive thank you must go out to all the leaders and parent helpers who helped over the weekend, it was much appreciated and the camp could not happen without your help and support.
